Creek Learning Center
Austin, Texas
Client:
Foundation Communities – Austin
This
new adult training and education center is built within an
existing subsidized-living apartment complex. The learning
center has a fully-equipped computer training room and multiple
classrooms for continuing education.
This facility
is designed and will be built in accordance with Austin
Energy's Green Building Program. The lighting
system incorporates occupancy sensors and daylight switching
to minimize energy consumption and the HVAC equipment is an
extra high efficiency design and incorprates an energy-recovery
module for the ventilation air. The main electric service
has an interface for four 2,500 watt photovoltaic (PV) units
to be installed on the roof. It is estimated that the PV system
will provide 60% of the energy required to power the facility
during peak use and peak energy generation. When the center
is not in use, the PV system will provide power back to Austin
Energy's electical grid.
